ideology interpellates the individual as a subject. (i love you althusser.)

i can't concentrate on my reading. i tried drinking some wine but it didn't help. i'm reading lenin, and an article about shifters in language. like pronouns.

i watched this movie last night called "carnival of souls." it's a cheap b movie from the sixties set in utah, and it confirmed my belief that utah is the creepiest place EVER. it centered around this doomed resort on the salt lake, called Saltair. (which really existed.) when the movie was made it was just a ruin. it was built in the 1890s or so, by the mormons, in a pseudo moorish style. it was built on pilings out in the lake a ways, and people would take a railroad from salt lake city to the resort, and go swimming and dance in the ballroom. it had a series of strange disasters... it burned to the ground 3 times and was rebuilt each time. the roller coaster blew over once in 75 mph wind. then the lake receded about a mile so no one came any more, and it was abandoned. c. grew up by SLC, and he says that when he was little, the ruins were still there, but it smelled really bad because of all the dead brine shrimp. then the rest of it burned down. i wish it were still there. read more
