we told her she was beautiful, we told her she was free. but none of us would meet her in the house of mystery
10 February 2003 - 7:01 pm

i just woke up. i had a long night. yesterday i was peacefully doing my homework when s. and jay and eva abducted me. it was jay's birthday and s. was trying to show him a good time, but he was a rather stubborn birthday boy and didn't have any ideas of what to do. first we visited l. in his swanky new downtown apartment, with high ceilings, marble counters, and a view of the fountain in the park blocks. there was no furniture yet so we sat on the woodfloor in the dark under blue christmas lights. jay told us crazy stories about harvesting opium from a field of poppies a few years ago, and s. told us about frogs.

then we went to a bar on mlk and the boys played pool while eva and i ate some mollie. she got pretty high but it didn't affect me much. around one s. dropped off the car and we walked to jay's house and played writing games and trivial pursuit while railing more mollie and coke. this went on until about 5 am, when i was becoming delirious and i pointed out that i had class in the morning. we would have had to walk about 40 blocks, but jay offered to let me sleep in his bed. he and the rest continued to play trivial pursuit. i couldn't sleep very well because of the drugs and worrying about things. i got up at 9 and everyone was still awake and drinking. they wanted me to stay and thought i was insane for going to class on so little sleep and so many drugs, but i was determined not to miss it. i took the bus home, took a shower, and went to school. i was a complete zombie in lecture, but i managed to pay attention to manet and baudelaire. then i fell asleep in the library and slept through my next class. at that point i decided to come home and not wait for my 6:00 class. i feel a bit better after sleeping but i have to write a paper for tomorrow and i'm annoyed that i missed class. oh well.

i need to stop living a double life and start sleeping.
