it's about how broad your gaze is and how close in you are.

i have to write a 5-7 page paper by 5 today... yesterday i read 227 pages of extremely dense anthro/economics/sociology articles. eric wolf "europe and people without history", michael taussig "history as commodity", marshall sahlins "cosmologies of capitalism", arjun appadurai "disjuncture and difference in the global cultural economy", and anna tsing "the realm of the diamond queen". blah. 2 weeks reading that i did in one day. they were all good, but at some point i started to go a little insane. doing the reading for this paper makes me think i should major in anthro after all. it's so fascinating. so many ideas.

i think it's important that we keep the strangeness.
