gabe left for school, and i got up at 10 and ate oatmeal. now i'm listening to a mixtape i made for him in december.

yesterday i was afraid i would feel sick from taking 8 birth control pills (see last entry). but i felt fine all day for some reason. so after a while i went out and got some coffee, and when i came back here jade and gabe were back, with two boys from california they found at hard times. it was funny, cause as soon as i walked into the room i knew they were west coasters like me. i never noticed the last time i came back here, but lately i've been feeling out of place when i walk around, like everyone can tell i don't really live here. like, everyone around this neighborhood has a mountain bike and i have my old 70s bike with a crate on it. and the way i dress too. but anyway, we sat around with the california boys for a while. we tried to figure out if we knew the same people at reed and in portland. one of them knocked his head on our dysfunctional hanging plant-- half of the pot is missing so dirt is always falling all over the floor-- and he got dirt in his hair, and kept trying to wash it out in the sink. it was funny. then he thought i looked familiar and maybe he knew me from somewhere, and we determined it might be the berkeley food not bombs. then they left.

gabe and i took the bus to a bookstore where he was looking for a book for his class. the store was old and musty and had lots of stacks of old books, and 2 cats, and a parrot. gabe bought his book, and then we went out to eat at the dinkytowner, he got a veggieburger and i got toast, which was only 85 cents!

when we got back home, we started working on our project, which is possibley the geekiest project ever. we're trying to make a list of every book we've ever read, going through his book buyer's catalogue. and we made databases on his computer, one for each of us. it was actually pretty fun. so far i have 99 books, but we're only a third through the catalogue. we haven't even started the kid's section yet. and we gave each book a rating of 1-3, but then we created 4 as a superlative rating, for the really really amazing books.

time to go outside in the sun--
