unconditional heat is almost as good as unconditional love

well, i never finished part 2 of saturday. but maybe that's for the better.

now i'm staying with gabe in minneapolis, or i have been for the past 2 days. his roommates are nice, and i like his house, although it's really messy. i guess i'll have to start cleaning it. i don't think they have any silverware, and there was no soap in the bathroom. they ran out, according to gabe. i wonder how long ago. so i bought some rose soap at the co-op.

last night we sat around making up satirical songs about hippies while gabe played guitar. one of them was about eating granola with a wooden spoon. everyone at gabe's house likes to smoke a lot and ash all over the floor and spill their beer, etc. his friend seth told us this really awful story about how his friend had a miscarriage and they made art out of the dead fetus!!!!! i think that's the most disturbing thing i've ever heard, even worse than all the things dave talks about. later we watched "lolita", the newer version, which i've already seen a bunch of times. i love it. i have a big crush on jeremy irons.

so, methods of contraception didn't work out last night, and i was going to have to go get the stupid "morning after pill" from a doctor. but i just read on the internet how you can take 8 of your regular birth control pills and it does exactly the same thing. you take 4, and then take 4 more 12 hours later. it's going to make me so nauseous though. ugh. but, as gabe said, "babies are worse than gross."

today i started reading this amazing book called "the arcades project" by walter benjamin. i rode my bike to hard times and drank coffee and watched the somalian men play chess, and got 60 pages into my book (which is a million pages long). it was sooooo hot and humid today. when i got back to gabe's i took off my clothes and stood in front of the fan for a long time, but i was still sweating.
