i am doing a photo project that feels more like a science experiment. i have my tripod set up on my desk pointing out the window, framing the street, a warehouse roof, and the west hills. every half hour i open the window and take 3 pictures at a 5.6 aperture. shutter-speeds 4 seconds, 1/15 second, and 1/1000 second. i started at 7 pm, and i'm doing it for 24 hours. this means i have to stay up until 7 pm tomorrow. why do i always do these projects that involve sleep-deprivation? i don't know. i got up at noon today so it won't be that hard to stay up-- it'll be 31 hours total.

when i'm done i'll have 3 rows of pictures, each row with 48 pictures. there will be some kind of gradation effect along each row, if i develop all the prints the same in the darkroom. and each row will go from complete black to complete white, but not in the same places. one row will be exposed correctly at noon, one at midnight, and one at morning and evening. at least that's what i'm hoping for. it would suck if it ended up looking really stupid.

so i have this alarm on my computer that makes a loud ringing sound every 30 minutes. after this is over i'm going to feel like some kind of lab rat. i was originally going to do this only for 12 hours, but my teacher said it would be cooler if i did 24. this is true dedication.

i'm chained to this apartment for a whole day so i guess i'll start my anthro paper. i also made a salad. i think this is about the 4th time in my life i've made a salad. it was good, although the combination of things i bought was a little strange. lettuce, bell peppers, apples, avocodo, carrots, tomatos, cilantro, and walnuts. and this sea veggie vinaigrette that jade said was good. things i cook/prepare without a recipe that involve more than 2 ingredients are always a little sketchy.

if you want to participate in my photo science experiment and you know where i live, go stand in front of that warehouse where you can see my window, on the hour or half hour. that would be funny.

love, becky
