"life is beautiful. really it is. full of beauty and illusions."
05 August 2002 - 12:42 am

after i wrote about my freedom to buy as much coffee as i want, i decided i should stop drinking it. for one thing, it doesn't seem to work anymore. even though i was drinking 3 or 4 cups a day last week, i was still tired. also, with all this biking i thought it would be healthier not to dehydrate myself. so this has been a sleepy two days. not really though. today gabe and seth and i went to the uptown art fair, kind of. we mostly complained about all the tacky yuppie art, and gabe entertained us by yelling "illegal drugs!!" at the top of his lungs as we walked down the sidewalk.

the bus driver let us violate the terms of our transfer, which was 20 minutes expired (i hear it's a pretty serious crime). and gabe and seth spent the 45 minute bus ride back to the east bank thinking up band names for their grindcore band. i was sitting next to the window with dried blood dripping down the glass and onto the seat.

back at the house there was a minor kitty emergencey, or rather an ongoing one, since they hadn't had food for a few days and we'd forgotten to get some again, when we were out. so i got a donation from jeremy and rode my bike to the supervalue (is that supposed to be supervalu with no e?) on university and central, and got a big bag of cat food and a big thing of kitty litter. riding a bike in a flat city is such a lazy "activity". it's kind of like taking a bath. coasting.

when i got home jeremy greeted me wearing a george w. mask and laughing like mad. after jade got home and various other people came and left we decided to watch "gummo". more people came in the middle and cory had some sandwiches from the dumpster, which we ate, and the cats ate some of the tuna sandwich. the movie was really good, although people kept talking through it. but i liked a lot of it, especially the scene at the end when the guy with the bunny ears is kissing the blonde girl in the pool. jade and i are going to get some bunny hats and wear them around.

so i have to work 8 hours again tomorrow. if you include the rides to and from work that's about 9 hours of mostly biking. exercise is good, especially when it involves admiring the many fine examples of art deco architecture in downtown. there really are so many beautiful old buildings. my favorites are the old post office by the river and the rand tower on marquette.

well, i kicked the "writing group" (virginia jeremy cory justin) out of gabe's room so i could sleep, so i should probably do that now..
