the decadence of summer
13 June 2002 - 7:57 pm

there is something decadent about really hot days. excess. too much heat. even sitting still on the shady porch is sweaty. when gusts of wind are blowing papers off the kitchen table, but the wind is warm and doesn't cool you off at all, that is decadent. i don't love it, but i meta-love it. i love the discomfort of heat on a level above the feeling itself. that probably made very little sense.

so far today i: sat in various places in the apartment and porch. read. ate spaghetti. drank a lot of water which became sweat on my skin. talked to jared and dave and donna. sewed a dress to try to make it the right shape for me. looked at my plants. avoided the use of a certain substance with enormous willpower, considering that everyone around me was doing it. but the day is not over yet. maybe i should leave for a while.
